Compassionate Grooms
We understand that grooming can be a challenging experience for puppies, elderly dogs, or dogs with health issues. We don’t expect a perfect groom every time. Compassion and patience are key, and we never force pets to endure long grooming sessions. For older or health-compromised dogs, we modify the grooming process or choose styles that can be done more quickly to ensure their comfort.

Matts
Matting can be painful for pets and challenging for groomers. Severe matting can hide many problems and may require shaving, which can be uncomfortable for your dog. Regular grooming is essential to prevent matts and keep your pet’s coat and skin healthy. Matts can restrict blood flow, cause skin issues, and hide infections. After shaving, monitor your pet for any skin irritation.

Shave vs. Not Shave
The type of coat determines whether shaving is appropriate. Some coats have a predetermined length (PDL) and others grow indefinitely (UDL). Double-coated dogs have both an undercoat and an overcoat. Shaving double-coated dogs can damage the fur, cause overheating, sunburn, skin cancer, and does not reduce shedding or help with allergies. Regular grooming and de-shedding are the best ways to keep double-coated dogs cool and healthy. Brushing alone isn’t enough; bathing promotes shedding and works together with brushing to maintain a healthy coat.
